Elena, Convenor Centre for Social Impact at UWA, teaches Philanthropy & Social Investment and ethics. She is a social and economic columnist for the Australian Financial Review (afr.com.au). Elena is also a co-creator of the UWA In the Zone Conference Series.(www.zone.uwa.edu). As the founding CEO of Advance-Global Australians, Elena a driving-force in Australia's engagement with its 1 million strong diaspora. Based in in NYC from 2002-2007, she was the Co-Chair of the Advance 100 Global Australians Summit at the Sydney Opera House in December 2006. (www.advance.org/the-advance-100-global-australians-summit/) Elena commenced her career in Canberra in the early 90's in evaluation & monitoring of government programs, the ABS in economic accounts. On returning to WA she became a management consultant with Deloitte and KPMG, a film-maker ("Parlami D'Amore" St Kilda Film Festival, Audience Choice Award 2000, London Film Festival, 2000 and PIAF 2000). Elena is currently completing a PhD in the history of economic thought on the virtue-ethics origins of the science of economics. Her research work focuses on the recovery of lost traditions.
